ALROSA sells $9 mln colored diamonds in Hong Kong

MOSCOW, Sep 27 (PRIME) -- Russian uncut diamond giant ALROSA has sold 210 colored diamonds worth U.S. $9 million at its first specialized auction in Hong Kong, the company said in a statement Thursday.

Chinese companies took active participation in the auction, with nine of them having acquired 20 large diamonds, ALROSA said.

“We plan to hold the True Colours auction on a regular basis one or two times a year. The results of the auction show that we have made one more serious step on a way to our goal – to become the global leader in terms of production of colored diamonds,” Pavel Vinnikhin, director of ALROSA’s branch, was quoted as saying.
